The 4-inch spear point blade is ground thin behind the edge for clean, controlled cuts — through hide, through cordage, through kindling. A note on the shape: this is a spear point, not a deep-bellied trailing point skinner. If you want a dedicated skinner with a heavy sweep for large game, this is not that knife. If you want one fixed blade that skins, cuts, carves and camps without swapping tools, this is exactly that knife.

Full tang construction runs the steel through the entire handle, so there is no weak joint to fail when you are batoning wood or leaning on the blade miles from anywhere. The rosewood scales are pinned and shaped to fill the hand, with a mosaic centre pin and a lanyard hole at the butt.

Scout carry — why it matters

The included leather sheath is built for scout carry: dual belt slots hold the knife horizontally across the small of the back or at the hip, rather than hanging vertically down the thigh.

The difference shows up the moment you sit in a truck, kneel to a fire, climb into a treestand or drop into a pack strap. A vertical sheath digs in and catches. A scout carry sheath stays flat and out of the way — and still comes to hand fast, with either hand, in a cross-draw motion.

About 1095 carbon steel

1095 is a high-carbon tool steel chosen by knifemakers for one reason: it takes a very fine edge and holds it. It sharpens easily in the field on a simple stone — no diamond plates or power equipment required.

It is not stainless. 1095 develops a patina with use and will rust if stored wet. Wipe the blade dry after use and give it a light coat of oil before storage. Most owners come to prefer it — the patina is a record of where the knife has been.
